[Review] Harbour City Dimsum House, SM City Iloilo - A Delightful Dim Sum Experience

If you're a fan of Chinese cuisine, particularly dim sum, Harbour City at SM City Iloilo should be on your list. Known for its vast array of dim sum and rice bowls with mouthwatering toppings, this restaurant offers an enticing dining experience right in the heart of the mall. 

One of Harbour City's standout features is its convenient location. Nestled within the bustling SM City Iloilo mall, it's an easy stop for shoppers looking to refuel without the stress of a crowded setting. Despite its prime spot, the restaurant maintains a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, allowing diners to enjoy their meals in peace.

Technology lovers will appreciate Harbour City's advanced ordering system. Each table has its unique QR code, which you can scan to place your order via a web form. This efficient system not only streamlines the ordering process but also ensures that your order is accurately taken and delivered to your table promptly. The convenience and innovation of this system truly enhance the dining experience.

In addition to their in-restaurant offerings, Harbour City also sells frozen dim sum that you can take home and steam at your convenience. This is a fantastic option for those who want to enjoy their delicious dim sum in the comfort of their own home without breaking the bank.

From my experience, most of the dim sum at Harbour City is delectable. The wonton noodle soup, in particular, stands out with its flavorful broth and delightfully springy noodles. However, it's worth noting that the portions tend to be on the smaller side. If you're dining with a group, consider ordering multiple side dishes, such as their various dim sum options, to share.

When it comes to pricing, Harbour City is generally reasonable. Most of the dim sum is close to the 100 pesos range. There is one exception however, the yang chow rice platter which I was told was for 3 to 4 persons seems too small and too expensive for what it is. Just a fair warning that it might leave you feeling a bit short-changed if you are following their portion recommendation since it is probably more suited for 2 people. 

One other mixed experience I had was with the glazed pork spareribs platter. While the pork was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic, the accompanying string beans were tough and fibrous. It might have been better if the preparer had taken the time to break the string beans by hand to remove the fibrous parts, rather than cutting them with a knife. Of course, this is just a humble suggestion for improvement.

Overall, Harbour City at SM City Iloilo offers a delightful dining experience with its tasty dim sum, innovative ordering system, and affordable pricing (for the most part). Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a leisurely meal with friends, this restaurant is worth a visit.
